Speeds up the process of using a Dremel

It is really a pain in the neck to keep pulling out that little tiny Dremel wrench to swap one Dremel mandrel for another. The Dremel Chuck allows you to quickly grasp and release the mandrels using just your hands. You can also use the wrench on it to make sure your mandrel is held tightly, but most of the time , hand tight is sufficient. There are some function that this chuck is not recommended for due to speed, torque, and force, so be aware of this when inserting tools. ==> Homw Power Tools

great item

Great buy, it is not 100% true as others have stated, but it gets the job done. I recommend buying the collet nut set for more precision work, its only $15 to get them both, and it is great to have when you need it. This should be included with every dremel sold. Fits the Dremel 300 series with no problems. The chuck adds a little extra length, so working in small areas may require the use of the collet nut set.

Works on Black & Decker, too

Someone told me I could convert my Dremel to keyless Jacobs chuck, and I ordered this. Then when it came (like, the next day!) I realized I don't HAVE a Dremel-- my rotary tool is a Black & Decker. Awww, darn! And there are no instructions, either.

Well, don't panic. I unscrewed the collet sleeve, took out the collet, and screwed this on. Ta da! It works perfectly. Yay! No more wrapping tape around something that's just a little too small, so the collet will hold it. No more hunting for where I put that darned little collet I now need. Etc. Perfect-- cheap at twice the price, as someone else commented.

Makes Using Dremel Tool Even Easier

Instead of having to search for the tiny wrench that comes with the Dremel any time an accessory bit needs to changed, using this Dremel Keyless Chuck enables quick changes w/o hassle.

Also compatible with the Dremel 1100-01 Stylus

This is a useful addition to any Rotary tool. It makes changing accessories a snap. That is especially true if you would normally have to change collets along with the accessory. And if you want to use a bit with a non-standard shaft size then you really need this.

Aside from adding my "this is a must have with a rotary tool" comment I wanted to point out that it works perfectly with the Dremel 1100-01 Stylus 5,000 to 25,000 RPM Variable Speed 7.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Rotary Tool with Docking Station (another best in breed product).

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've gotten from other reviewers and continue to return the favor as best as I can. If you thought this review was helpful please let me know by clicking on "Yes" button where it asks. If there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

It's time for you to "chuck" the collets...

I consider the MultiPro chuck to be the best accessory ever made for the Dremel tool. When you're doing work that requires constant bit changes, the changing of collets to fit a bit of a particular diameter becomes a real frustration, and wastes time. So, needless to say, an adjustable chuck is a real boon for these kinds of jobs. Just loosen it to remove one bit, pop in another, tighten, and vwah-lah! The collet nut and collets become pretty much obsolete.

The chuck may seem somewhat pricey, but when you consider the time you'll save and the convenience you'll enjoy, it's well worth the extra investment.

Dremel 4486 MultiPro Chuck

I don't understand why Dremel doesn't include this great little chuck as a standard accessory with all their Multi-Tools. It is so much easier, faster and less frustrating than fumbling with the tiny collar and wrench that the tools come equipped with. If you change bits on your Dremel often, as most users do, you will quickly come to appreciate the 4486. As for me, the 4486 is comparable to the Flex-Shaft as one of the single most worthwhile attachments available for adding versatility and conveience.
